Lisa Hoffman, DVM, Practice Owner:
Introducing Dr. Lisa Hoffman, our fearless leader! Originally from Baltimore, she grew up the eldest of three children, with the typical eldest sibling qualities - responsible, studious, and a willingness to care for and nurture others. As a child, Dr. Hoffman frequently cared for injured and ill wildlife, and enjoyed loving relationships with the family dogs - Vicky, Nickie, and Ginger, to name just a few. Dr. Hoffman began training dogs in obedience in the fifth grade, and eventually earned American and Canadian obedience and tracking titles, and two Dog World awards. |

Who could have guessed that a 6th grade composition entitled "What I Want to be When I Grow Up" would foretell young Lisa's future? After much careful deliberation, she concluded that she would rather be a veterinarian than a circus trainer because the traveling life of a circus trainer would make it difficult for her to have pets of her own.
Dr. Hoffman graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1984 with a degree in English. She later received her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Dr. Hoffman practiced medicine at a veterinary hospital outside of Alexandria, Virginia for a few years before relocating to Annapolis and buying our practice in May of 1992. Her special interests include dermatology, behavior, dentistry and ear problems.
Dr. Hoffman primarily loves Golden Retrievers but is currently worshipping "Wynona", an English Mastiff. Her other pets include two cats, "Chewbie" and "Lyra" aka Miss Piggy, and a Golden Retriever named "Pumba". A Cape St. Claire resident, Dr. Hoffman enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and hiking in her spare time. She and her husband Jeff are looking forward to a long and happy future together!
The circus world's loss is our clients' gain, as Dr. Hoffman's dedication and passion for her work translates into countless happier, healthier pets.
