Shelly, Veterinary Technician/Account Manager/ Inventory Manager
Shelly joined our staff in the spring of 2001 without any experience in the animal field, and yet has quickly become an invaluable member of our team. As you can tell by the list of titles following her name, she is a quick learner and a bit of an over achiever! Shelly can work as lab technician, exam room assistant, and receptionist, and then in her "spare time" manage our inventory and client accounts. Oh yes, she also does very well helping to train our new hires.
Shelly grew up in Edgewater, and now resides in Arnold. Her three cats Muppet, Clive (aka Kitten), Peaches, and Jax, the Rottweiler, round out the family. Shelly enjoys going to parks, painting and making pottery in her spare time.
Casey, Veterinary Technician
Casey joined our team in 2001, and we all agree that she's found her niche! Friendly, dependable, enthusiastic, and quick to learn, Casey is a great all-around staff member. She also has a wonderful sense of humor that keeps the staff and doctors entertained.
Casey spearheads our "callbacks." These are the follow-up calls you receive after a visit to our hospital, making sure that your pet is doing well and that you don't have any questions about your visit. Casey is also responsible for the maintenance and care of our laboratory equipment. In addition to this she is one of our two dental technicians, having graduated from an intensive course in dentistry for veterinary technicians at the Animal Dental Center.
Casey lives in Annapolis with her boyfriend, James, several four legged room mates including Sassy the cat, and Toy Poodle Stanley, and her newest addition Darby. Casey enjoys playing the drums, going to concerts, and music (Dave Matthews, especially!). When asked what she enjoys about working at our practice, Casey answers, "My co-workers, our clients, and being appreciated for what I do."
Katherine, Head Veterinary Receptionist
Katherine joined our team in 2002, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have found such a friendly, good-natured, and gracious individual. She grew up in Laurel, and currently resides in Shady Side with her husband Joe. She is also the proud "mother" of four cats: Kit Kat, Princess, Spike, and Norma Jean jumpin' Bean. Since her arrival at Hoffman Animal Hospital her family has grown by two: Buck the Boxer, and Maggie Mae the lab.
Katherine is an integral team member, and has taken on responsibility for many vital operations, such as sending our reminder cards, training new receptionists, and staff scheduling (quite a headache when everyone wants off in July!). She is also the contact person and "go to girl" for our computer hardware, software, telephone system, and just about anything else relating to client service.
Katherine is a devoted daughter and aunt. Her free time is often spent with her friends and family, sun bathing, boating, and dancing. She also makes incredible venison lasagna!
