Dr. Keatts was born in London, England, and knew from the age of 8 that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She spent every weekend and vacation from that point on volunteering with all kinds of animals until she graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2003. Lucy was also bitten by the travel bug and the desire to pass on her training to others in developing countries around the world. She spent several years traveling and working on wildlife conservation projects, providing veterinary care to expatriates pets, and training future veterinarians in India and across Southeast Asia. Whilst abroad, Lucy met her Marylander husband and completed a Masters in Veterinary Sciences, focusing on veterinary medicine at the interface between people, their animals, and wildlife. She spent 4 years working in small animal practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands before returning to Maryland to set down roots in Annapolis with her young family. Lucy enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, from general wellness and striving for low-stress veterinary care for pets, to challenging internal medicine cases. Lucy truly relishes building strong relationships with her patients and their owners and is excited to join the Hoffman Animal Hospital team.
